CONDITION REPORT: Brand new. I removed them from the bag in order to inspect the sizes.
This brand of tube fittings is designed, manufactured and quality controlled to be totally "inter-mixable" with Swagelok and other brands such as Parker, Hoke, Bi-Lok, Brennan, Dk-Lok, Ham-Let, Hy-Lok, SSP, Superlok, and Tylok. Intermixing is the random mixing of components of different manufactures. These are even inter-mixable with single ferrule fittings such as Parker CPI, Tylok CS-Lok, SSP Unilok, and Ham-Let One-Lok.
The precision manufacturing and stringent tolerances under rigid quality control procedures from an ISO 9001 certified facility ensures the safety performance and reliability of service whenever the brands intermixed. These are made to exacting specifications of ASTM (American Society for Testing Materials), ANSI (American National Standards & ASTM(American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
DO NOT INTER-MIX FRONT/BACK FERRULES.
For example, do not inter-mix a Hoke front ferrule with a Swagelok back ferrule as manufactures make different variations. Ferrules should be considered one component.
This tube fitting is excellent for use on all non-flared metal tubing such as steel, stainless steel, copper, aluminum, and non-metal tubing such as polyethylene, polypropylene, nylon, PFA, TFE and soft PVC. Selection of the proper fitting can be found by measuring the outside diameter of your tubing with suggested tolerances not to exceed ±0.003" (1/16" to 1/8") and ±0.005" (3/16" to 1"). The tube end threads are 20 per inch and not compatible with the much inferior type plumbing fittings found in your home or local hardware store.
Important Note: This is a NPT(National Pipe Thread Taper) fitting and is not available for purchase as an NPTF (Dryseal American National Standard Taper Pipe Thread) variant in stainless steel however, NPT is compatible/interchangeable with NPTF. Both types go by inside diameter rather than outside diameter and will be approximately 1/4" larger than the size stated. For example, a 1/4" NPT/NPTF fitting is over 1/2" in outside diameter. Both threads are tapered and visually appear to be the same however, there are subtle differences. An NPT fitting always requires tape/sealant and according to Parker Industries, a NPTF (Dryseal) fittings also require a sealant/lubricant. PTFE tape, if not applied properly, can contribute to system contamination, especially with fluid applications. Other alternatives are available such as an anaerobic thread sealant with PTFE.
