Description
Unusual, mid-19th century Rockingham Ware cow creamer from Bennington, Vermont with mottled and splattered brown flint enamel glaze with original acorn lid. Interesting anomaly on this particular creamer which is in exceptional condition, is that one of the cow’s horns is missing but was not broken off. The horn was removed before firing and is consistently, without blemish, glazed over at the attachment point. Seems quite purposeful making one wonder if it was a special order for some owner of a “one horn” cow. That is the only “flaw” found except some chipping along edge of lid. Measure 6 7/8 inches long by 5 1/2 inches to top of existing horn. No markings.
