Unlike SPF ratings used for lotions (which must be re-applied every 2 hours) UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) ratings refer to the sun-blocking characteristics of fabrics. All of Kotatat's Destination Nylon Supplex and Polyester Microfiber fabrics are hand-picked to perform in a marine environment and are independently tested according to AATCC 183 to provide a minimum rating of UPF 40+ without the use of chemical treatments that will wash out with repeated exposure to water. With Destination Paddle Wear, your protection is permanent.
All Destination Paddle Wear products are machine washable (cold water, delicate cycle) and should be drip-dried. Water repellency can be renewed using either spray-on or wash-in repellency treatments. For added protection from biting insects, spray-on or wash-in insect repellents can be added to your Destination Paddle Wear garment."
