This is in Excellent Condition with No Cracks NOTE: There is a small chip on the spout (SEE picture with pen) and natural crazing. The lid is NOT included. Very Nice Bennington Pottery Teapot. Crafted between 1849 and 1858, this features "Rebecca at the Well" that has a raised style of a woman at a well with foliage and trees around her. There is a flint enamel/Rockingham glazed finish throughout and a smooth base.
Bennington was a convenient location for producing redware pottery because of the close proximity to local clay deposits, as well as deposits along the Hudson River. Bennington also had an abundant supply of waterpower from local streams, which was necessary to power the machinery used at the time.
This measures 6 1/4" High x 8 3/8" Wide spout to handle.
